Modular Building | NEXTDC D1
As part of our design management processes on all our projects, Kapitol investigates opportunities to optimise off-site prefabrication and the use of modular construction.
For the NEXTDC D1 Data Centre in Darwin, Kapitol is working with ARJAY Modular preparing 10 modules in Melbourne while the foundations and structure are being built in Darwin. These modules will be transported to Darwin and ready for installation ultimately saving 3 months on the overall programme. Collaborative BIM360 models have helped coordinate the development of these components and the proposed installation despite the physical distance between the two teams.
The use of modular components optimises timeframes, confirms quality of materials, increases safety in installation with less heavy machinery and scaffolding on site and expedites works overall.
