Safety Mindset with Dave Holland

Last week we had the honour of hosting a special guest and safety motivational speaker, Dave Holland, at our data centre projects.

Addressing the Kapitol team and our subcontractors, Dave shared his harrowing story about his horrific workplace accident. Selflessly bringing to the forefront how crucial it is to have conversations about risk, Dave emphasised that no one should be attacked or blamed for speaking up.

Empowering all in attendance to recognise their own power, Dave revealed that 52% of injuries go unreported. Let's change that; let's speak up. Whether it's on-site or at home, having these conversations is key to making a positive change. Scepticism and blaming have no tolerance on our sites.

Dave advocated for correcting others around you, stating, "Speaking up takes only a few minutes and sends you back to your family much sooner and much safer. What happened to me occurred 17 years ago, but it feels like last night, and it'll feel like last night for the rest of my life."

We express our immense gratitude to Dave. Inspiring enthusiasm for safety is no small feat, but through moments like these and the compelling force of storytelling, we are left changed.
