Waterproofing - Kapitol Quality Series

One of the biggest issues we find in the construction industry is with waterproofing.

In this video Kapitol’s Senior Design Manager Kevin Hogan, speaks with Karl Wootton, Senior Technical Consultant with Australian Waterproofing Consultants, about the common waterproofing issues he finds when inspecting construction projects and how they can be overcome.

“Waterproofing issues are the killer of all beautiful projects because it can cause a range of hazards like fungus, mould and rotting timbers. This includes both external areas and internal ‘wet areas’ such as bathrooms,” says Kevin.

“The challenge in construction is to ensure buildings are water-tight and can cope with the long-term, cyclical movement that does occur in buildings. If this isn't factored into a building’s design phase, it can lead to leaks over time,” says Karl.
