AI is fuelling the growth of data centre construction!

The Urban Developer published an article this week about how Australian’s embracing the latest advancements in tech is fuelling a construction boom in data centres across all corners of Australia.

Featuring expert commentary from Kapitol Director, David Caputo these highly technical buildings not only require specialised physical infrastructure to operate but also require specialised construction teams to build them.

“It’s a very different team profile to what you would run for any other project,” Caputo says. “We used to run our teams with finishers, coordinators, structural co-ordinators, and facade co-ordinators,” he says. “Now, the bulk of our teams are all electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, hydraulic engineers, communications engineers, and commissioning agents.”

Today Kapitol is the biggest builder of data centres in Victoria and one of the biggest in the country, completing 14 facilities in the past five years, with a current pipeline of $850 million across four contracts. We have amazing clients like NEXTDC to thank for the opportunity to hone our skills to become a specialist data centre builder.
